Now that we have our first Faction Rally winner in Destiny 2, it's time to find out if the weapon on offer is worth the Glimmer.
If you've been reading our Destiny 2 guide, you'll know that whenever a Faction Rally event ends, the winner faction gets to put a weapon on sale. Dead Orbit members get it for 1,000 Glimmer, while everyone else has to pay 50,000. In this case, the weapon the Haunted Earth scout rifle.
Which begs the question, for those who are not Dead Orbit affiliates, is Haunted Earth actually worth 50,000 Glimmer? In the video below, Arekkz explores the strengths and weaknesses of Haunted Earth.
Haunted Earth is based on the Call to Serve scout rifle platform, one of the top PvE Legendary weapons in Destiny 2. However, unlike Call to Serve, the unique trait here is Field Prep, which increases the amount of ammo you can carry for Haunted Earth, and ups the reload speed when crouched.
This, coupled with the intrinsic perk (see below) means the weapon is most deadly when fired from a crouched position. The reload speed upgrade is nothing to scoff at, either.
The intrinsic perk is High-Impact Frame, which means a slower rate-of-fire and a higher damage. Aiming down sights and staying still while firing also increases accuracy.
Your options for sights are:
- IS 5 Circle: greatly increases handling speed
- Model 6 Loop: increases range, increases handling speed
And for magazines, you can pick from:
- Tactical Mag: slightly increases stability, increases reload speed, slightly increases magazine size
- High-Caliber Rounds: shorts cause knock back, slightly increases range
Unfortunately, for all of its benefits, the weapon is not worth the asking price. Considering you have a great replacement in Call to Serve, which beats it in the rate-of-fire, magazine size, and handling, it's not a very attractive option. Even when you compare it to other top scout rifles like Nameless Midnight, it still loses, despite its great impact.
