Destiny 2: how to get the Legend of Acrius Exotic Arc shotgun via On the Comms and Await the World-Eater

The Legend of Acrius Exotic shotgun in Destiny 2 is a lovely Arc weapon, but the On the Comms questline in order to acquire it is a bit of a humdinger. Luckily, we're here to help.

This is a very powerful weapon, and one with an interesting questline. In fact, you'll actually unlock the gun fairly fast if you follow these instructions, but for the gun to reach its full potential you'll need to complete the Leviathan Raid at least twice and fulfill various other requirements. It might be worth it, though, if you're after a new shotgun (or you're just a completionist).

Since you'll need to participate in the Raid in order to bring the weapon up to max potential, you might want to give our Destiny 2 Leviathan raid guide a quick once over. It's a detailed walkthrough, and also provides some tips on how to defeat Calus. It's all part of the constant updates being made to our main Destiny 2 guide, which provides a complete explanation of everything.

Before you can jump into the Leviathan Raid, you will need to pick up a quest in order to add the Legend of Acrius Exotic shotgun to your inventory. Then there are more steps to take once you have completed the Leviathan raid if you wish to open up the weapon's full potential. It's never as simple has being gifted with a nice weapon for bringing down a boss, is it?

Before we get into how to acquire it, here's what you need to know about the lovely arc shotgun which is one of 19 exotic weapons in Destiny 2, as of right now.

This quest has been updated since the video above was produced. See below for updated details.

The Legend of Acrius has an interesting perk which fires blasts of high-damage Arc energy that over-penetrate targets. This means that when you shoot an enemy, not only will they take heavy damage, the fella standing behind them will also take tons of damage.

The barrel is optimized for distance, and the shotgun's trait extends the radar. This makes for a great extended range choice, as most shotguns lean more toward close-quarter combat than say, a rifle.

Now, about those requirements. Warning: prepare yourself for quite a bit of grubwork.

In order to add the Legend of Acrius Exotic to your arsenal, you'll first need to reach level 20 and pick up the On the Comms quest. On the Comms is a random drop quest which appears in your Power Weapon slot, so make sure your inventory isn't full if you want to collect it. There doesn't seem to be any guaranteed trigger for the quest drop, but fighting Cabal in story missions and Adventures is a good bet.

Once the quest is picked up, you will need to head to Nessus and recover communication ciphers by defeating Cabal. repeatedly clearing out the Lost Sector in The Cistern is one good way to gather the required items quickly.

Complete this, and the quest item will update with a new objective. Prior to the launch of the Leviathan Raid, this step was called Await the World Eater. Now that Leviathan is freely available, it's Destroyer of Worlds instead. To complete this step you need to complete the Leviathan Raid.

The third step in the questline is called Imperial Invitation. You will need to head to the Tower to speak with raid vendor Benedict 99-40 to turn it in. The vendor will hand you the End the Arms Dealer objective, which is a unique version of the Arms Dealer Strike.

To enter the Strike, you will need to load into the European Dead Zone (EDZ), drop yourself at the Firebase Hades landing pad, and head toward the blue quest marker between this area and Legion's Anchor on the map.

Similar to the Arms Dealer Nightfall Strike, shooting things will add 30 seconds or so to your timer. This time instead of killing enemies to extend the mission clock, you will be shooting blue Anomaly orbs as part of the Temporal Anomaly modifier. The other modifier is Prism, which is also a modifier in this week's Inverted Spire Nightfall Strike.

It's worth noting this is a prestige Strike, which means the recommended power level is 300 and you start out with only seven minutes on the clock. Shoot as many orbs as you can to extend that time, folks.

Once you have beaten the boss, you have completed the Strike and earned the Legend of Acrius Exotic shotgun. But wait, there's more to do, because at this point, the weapon only has its Intrinsic perk.

Head back to the Tower and have another chat with Benedict 99-40. He will then give you another quest objective, Cabal Killer, and to complete this you will need to use Legend of Acrius to kill 25 Cabal, kill 15 Cabal at close range, and kill many Cabal without reloading Acrius ten times.

Since the weapon's perk allows you to kill two enemies at once, shooting one Cabal with another behind it or next to it will count as killing two Cabal with out reloading. Since the weapon only fires a single Arc shot, you'll have to reload each time you use it. So, try to hit two Cabal at once in order to meet the reload requirement as part of the questline. You can do it, Guardians. We have faith in you.

After completing Cabal Killer, and turning the quest in to Benedict, you still aren't finished. Mr. Robot will now ask you to complete the His Highness's Seal quest.

This one requires ten Emperor Seals (these are different from Emperor Tokens) in order to complete. The seals can only be obtained by defeating bosses in the Leviathan Raid, and you'll need to make a couple of runs to manage it.

That's where the quest peters out for now, unfortunately; the next step requires players to complete the Prestige difficulty of the Leviathan Raid, which launches on October 18.

Sounds like a lot of work. Hopefully, it'll be worth it to you in the end.

Destiny 2 is out now on PS4 and Xbox One, and PC players can get in on the fun October 24.
