Console players will get to experience the controversial Dear Esther later this year.

Dear Esther is coming to PS4 and Xbox One

One of the earlier games from Everybody's Gone to the Rapture's developer The Chinese Room, Dear Esther, is making its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Both versions will be available later this year, but no specific dates were provided. This release will also feature some "subtle tweaks" to make it play better on a console.

In addition, a director's commentary mode will be included. This commentary will provide an audio retrospective of Dear Esther's various forms, from inception, all the way to release and impact.

Dead Esther originally came out in 2012 on Steam and was one of the earliest games to spark the so called "walking simulator" debate, owed to its radically different approach to what players expected from first-person puzzle games.
