DC Universe Online daily revenue up 700% after freemium conversion

DC Universe Online has been going from strength to strength since adopting a free-to-play business model.

Sony Online Entertainment CEO John Smedley took to Twitter to announce more startling jumps since the game's conversion, including a 700% increase in revenue since ditching the subscription model.

Of that revenue, 47% comes from PC accounts and 53% from PlayStation 3 users, he revealed. The most popular purchases are additional character slots and Vanguard of the Heavens character skins.

The playerbase is growing at a rate of 6% per day, and retention is high - more than 85% of logins are returning players.

Smedley had previously revealed the MMORPG has won over 1 million new players and noted 1000% increases in concurrent players since going free-to-play.
