Looks like director David O. Russell's not out of the Uncharted movie equation after all. He had originally decided to instead direct a film based on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Poor Jane Austen. Rolling in her grave she is.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, David O. Russell has instead closed a deal to write and direct Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and skip the zombie version of Elizabeth and Darcy's love story.

Avi Arad, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing the film, which was announced byDoug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach, the latter of whom said,

"David is a tremendous choice to take on this film," said Columbia president  Matt Tolmach. "He's equally adept at combining all the classic elements involved in this property: great character development, strong comedy and amazing action sequences.

"He has a brilliant vision for this material and we know he will bring his original, unique voice to this adaptation."

IMDB has the film listed for release in 2013.
