David Hayter isn't cool with how Evo 2019 used his voice for the Tekken Solid Snake joke

Evo organisers got into a little bit of trouble with David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake.

In case you missed it, Evo 2019 organisers decided to do a bit of a joke following the Tekken finals. The stage ran a Codec conversation showing Snake speaking to Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada.

Not only that, it used existing voice over Hayter had recorded for a fan. This got everyone thinking Solid Snake is coming to Tekken 7 as a guest character, before the official Evo Twitter account apologised, clarifying that this was simply an elaborate joke, not a reveal of Snake in Tekken.

Unfortunately, not everyone took it lightly.

"You also failed to consult me, or Konami," Hayter replied to the apology on Twitter. "Please do not use my voice to promote other games. Ever."

The legendary actor later added that he's "happy to record private cameos for anyone. But it is not okay to use my voice for the promotion of other properties."
