Blighttown looks smooth in new Dark Souls Remastered Switch footage

Footage has surfaced of someone battling through Blighttown in Dark Souls Remastered on the Nintendo Switch.

Recently we sent a freelancer to preview Dark Souls Remastered. The plan was to rush straight through to Blighttown - an area notorious for frame rate dips in the game’s original release - to see if the issues had been resolved.

Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to go there and were forced to take the linear route through the opening segments of the game. With Blighttown still being an unknown quantity, we were a little concerned.

However, it seems those concerns were unwarranted. Footage has surfaced of a player at PAX East rushing to the notoriously choppy spot, and it looks nice and smooth.

Here’s a look:

It’s worth noting that this is captured from the Nintendo Switch in docked mode. The Switch generally runs better in handheld, so it’s reassuring. It doesn’t mean it will run as well on PS4, Xbox One, or PC, however.

Hopefully we’ll be able to confirm the state of these other versions as soon as the review embargo lifts, presumably some time in May.
