Dark Souls 3: Foot of the High Wall to Undead Settlement

The only path forward from the Foot of the High Wall bonfire is straight ahead towards the big gate, but before you go follow the left wall around and climb into the shattered fortification to collect a Large Soul of a Deserted Corpse.

Head on down the stairs and along the path by the wall. Half way along there are stairs leading down, but ignore them and run on to the end of this section to trigger an event below: a pack of three dogs attacks the passives below. Use the chaos to your advantage or wait till it dies down.

When the dogs are down, head away from the big gate. Be wary as you pass two coaches tucked against the left hand wall; two dogs wait behind it. If you’re quick you can surprise one. Collect two Alluring Skulls from the corpse once they’re dead.

Keep heading down the path, being careful not to attack any of the pilgrim corpses. Grab the Homeward Bone on the left side of the bridge, then search the right side until you find an NPC you can talk to.

This is Yorel of Londor, and if you don’t come see him immediately, he eventually carks it here on the bridge and vanishes forever - closing off an ending. Accept the former sorcerer’s service to transport him to Firelink Shrine; look for him at the far end of the side tunnel to the left as facing Andre. He’ll give you the Beckon emote if you chat with him, and sells you some nice early sorcery spells. He has one other unique function: periodically, up to five times, he’ll offer to “draw out” your “true strength”. This amounts to a free level up. See our NPC guide and endings guide for more information (and spoilers).

Anyway. There’s nothing else to do here besides admire the view (no, you can't get to those distant item glows; but don't worry, we'll get 'em), so return to where the dogs attacked the villagers. Pull the lever here to open the gate, and either kill the grunt on the other side or let him walk away.

Move a few steps into the village and look ahead and slightly right to spot the Undead Settlement bonfire. That wasn't so hard, was it?

Continue via Undead Settlement to Dilapidated Bridge.
