Cyberpunk 2077 could sell 20 million in the launch year, according to analyst

One financial analyst expects Cyberpunk 2077 to sell gangbusters once its hits the market.

Bloomberg recently published its 50 Companies to Watch in 2020 list, and thanks to Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt made the list.

According to Bloomberg analyst Matthew Kanterman, the company could beat analysts’ 2020 sales forecasts once the game is released. It could even sell around 20 million units during the launch year.

While that's a large figure, it's not beyond reachable considering CDP's stellar RPG background and the fact Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games of 2020.

It took The Witcher 3 four years to hit the 20 million sales mark, but the franchise as a whole stared out as a niche entry in the RPG market. While Witcher 3 saw mainstream success, with Cyberpunk 2077 having fps shooter mechanics, it may appeal to a broader audience.

Plus, the Keanu reveal probably added more hype for a title than any previous trailer or info drop in the history of gaming. We're just guessing on that end, going by the internet's reaction to Mr. Reeves popping up in the E3 2019 trailer. But you have to admit: it got everybody talking.

We'll have to wait and see how well the game sells after it releases April 16, 2020, obviously. But don't consider that 20 million figure as being out of the realm of possibility.
