Cyberpunk 2077 bug has NPCs stalking players

Cyberpunk 2077 has been plagued by plenty of bugs - as well as some rude and hilarious ones - but the latest one players have found is just a bit creepy.

Some Cyberpunk 2077 players are finding that they're being followed by certain NPCs.

Player staigerd89 took to Reddit to share their story of one creepily attached NPC. "This is absolutely driving me nuts, but an NPC by the name of Hwangbo has been following me since some early side mission. Fast travel will get rid of him for a few minutes, but then I see the green icon appear on my radar and sure enough, he is following me all through night city."

It's not completely random as Hwangbo is a character you have to escort to a specific location. However, it seems that a bug in the mission scripting after a shoot-out meant that the quest wasn't able to progress, so the character just tags along with V everywhere - including the main story missions.

It's more than immersion-breaking, given how Hwangbo is dressed and just standing in various locations, just staring at you. The weirdest of staigerd89's screenshots is during The Heist mission where you are supposed to be hidden yourself, only for this hapless NPC to be crouching in the middle of a room where a private meeting is taking place.

They're not alone in this experience, as other people have reported the same bug. Another Reddit user however shared that they were being stalked by another NPC, the more menacing-looking Dum Dum.

It looks like another one of many bugs CD Projekt Red will be working hard to fix. The latest 1.04 patch has however managed to resolve the issue of certain images that had a risk of triggering epileptic seizures.

The sci-fi RPG has received a largely positive reception on PC, despite the myriad technical issues and bugs, but early reviews suggest a much poorer reception on console where it's already reported to have severe performance issues on last-gen consoles.

Players just getting started in Cyberpunk 2077, find out which life path you should pick for V before you begin your story in Night City.
