Cyberpunk 2077 launch trailer gets you in the mood for Night City

The official launch trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 is now live ahead of the game's release tomorrow, December 10.

Compared to the edgier, grittier and action-packed trailers for Cyberpunk 2077 seen so far, this takes a more mature and sombre tone, heightened by the song playing over it, a cover of Samurai song 'Never Fade Away', performed by P. T. Adamczyk & Olga Jankowska.

"Test of a person's true value?" asks Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand in its opening. "Death - facing it, staring it down."

The trailer is light on specific plot details, focusing instead of some moody close-ups on a number of key characters you'll meet in Night City. There's still a few bursts of action though, from car chases to shoot-outs, and some possibly more intimate encounters.

That said, it also appears that V - shown in this trailer with their masculine voice - has something of a near-death experience, while another voice later says, "You believe you cheated death? It is death that has cheated you."

The underlying message, which more neatly fits into how player choice affects your story in Cyberpunk 2077, comes from fixer Dexter DeShawn who asks, "Would you rather live in peace as Mr. Nobody, or go down for all times in a blaze of glory?"

The critical consensus for Cyberpunk 2077 has been generally very favourable. VG247's 5/5 review calls it "dripping with detail and engaging stories" and "the kind of RPG where you blink and hours go by, which is just what we need to finish off 2020".

It's no long at all before you'll be able to step into Night City, although Johnny Silverhand is on hand to tell PC players who pre-loaded the game from GOG to go back to sleep via a pretty fun Easter egg.

Better still, every copy of Cyberpunk 2077 can also be connected to GOG Galaxy for additional digital goodies and in-game items.
