Cyberpunk 2077 hotfix brings stability improvements and bug fixes

Cyberpunk 2077 takes a small step towards a better future.

Cyberpunk 2077 has received a new patch focused on fixing some issue and hopefully bringing it a step closer to stability.

It's hard to escape news about Cyberpunk 2077 at the moment. What should have been the biggest game launch of the year has turned to ash as the game's bugs, especially on last-gen consoles, have dominated the discourse.

It got so bad that now Sony and Microsoft are offering refunds for the game. What's more, the game no longer even available on the PlayStation Store.

However, Cyberpunk 2007 took a baby step towards a better game yesterday with Hotfix 1.05. The developer posted the patch notes to its website and it's surprisingly extensive.

The highlight of the patch, which is live on all versions of the game, is a vague but welcome note. It says, “Multiple stability improvements, including crash fixes.” There are no further details on this, but the game being in a better place today than it was yesterday is good news.

There were also two gameplay tweaks, including a small one to the much-maligned AI. The note reads, “Improved the reaction times of NPCs taking cover.” The other fix is a correction to the number of shots needed to kill civilians from a distance so, hopefully, you won't be accidentally killing passers-by any more with stray bullets.

There are a lot of other specific bug fixes included, many to do with certain missions or gameplay sequences. One of the more bizarre says, “Fixed an issue whereby after a braindance it was possible to be stuck in 3rd person view with no head.”

This, of course, is only a small band-aid to a larger wound. However, swift changes like this will help assure gamers that the title will find itself in a better state in the future. Hopefully, with the bigger patches promised in January and February, buyers who have not opted for a refund will have a great experience going forward.
