Cyberpunk 2077 dev CD Projekt RED partners with multiplayer studio Digital Scapes

CD Projekt RED has entered into a partnership with Canadian developer Digital Scapes.

This "long-term strategic cooperation" will allow CD Projekt RED to utilise technological solutions by Digital Scapes and make use of its expertise. This partnership is specifically focused on Cyberpunk 2077 development.

Though the announcement stops short of revealing what that actually means for the game, one need only look at Digital Scapes' output for an idea. The Vancouver studio describes itself as "specialising in AAA multiplayer console and PC game development". It also has experience in cloud computing, asset and development tool creation.

Digital Scapes worked on Dying Light’s Be The Zombie mode, as well as unspecified portions of games like Company of Heroes, Prototype and others.

CD Projekt RED previously said that it's looking at multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077. Though the studio has been hiring developers with multiplayer experience, it never officially confirmed the mode will be part of the launch game - only that it could be added post launch.

The partnership with Digital Scapes could be one of the ways the studio is exploring the possibility.

Cyberpunk 2077 is still a ways off, though, so plans could change. Until then, catch up on everything we know in our big page.

Cyberpunk 2077 is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
