Cyberpunk 2077 mod gives the game a Borderlands look

Change the look of Cyberpunk 2077 with this Borderlands-themed mod.

When it's not buggy or having asset streaming problems, Cyberpunk 2077 can look really good, especially on a powerful PC. If you're not looking for ultra-realistic visuals, there is a way you could make the game's look more interesting.

Mod creator Salmo has released a new mod with a seemingly simple task: turn Cyberpunk 2077's visual style into that of Borderlands. The faux cel-shaded look, which adds a black border to models and objects, changes up the game's look dramatically.

Borderlandfy2077 relies on the popular Reshade tool, which is essentially an engine for tweaking games' visuals beyond what's officially supported. These can be anything from anachronistic filters to more significant upgrades like adding sharpening and fixing other imperfections.

The Borderlands mod simply adds a border to the image using the depth buffer (Z buffer), and adjusts contrast to fake that Borderlands look. According to Salmo, you shouldn't expect a massive hit to performance by using it, though the image may be a bit darker.

Assuming you have the latest version of Reshade, you should go ahead and grab Borderlandfy2077 from Nexus Mods, where you'll also find full installation instructions. If you're curious about the final result, the video above from Slothability it off in action.
