Cuphead is getting its own animated series on Netflix

Netflix has announced a new animated series based on Studio MDHR-developed Cuphead.

The popular indie game Cuphead is getting its own animated series on Netflix called The Cuphead Show.

The character-driven comedy will follow the misadventures of Cuphead and his "cautious but easily swayed brother," Mugman across their home: the Inkwell Isles.

When IGN asked Studio MDHR to elaborate on the Netflix announcement, the site was told the series will be "safe for kids, but written so there are also things that adults find funny and appeals to a wider audience."

Netflix said the series will expand on the characters and world of Cuphead, and will be developed by King Features Syndicate.

CJ Kettler will serve as the Executive Producer and Cuphead creators Chad and Jared Moldenhauer will serve as Executive Producers for Studio MDHR.

The series will be produced by Netflix Animation and is executive produced by Dave Wasson (Mickey Mouse Shorts) and Cosmo Segurson (Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling)will serve as the co-executive producer.

To date, Cuphead has sold over 4 million units worldwide, and has won over 20 awards. It is available on PC, Xbox One and Switch, and its expansion, The Delicious Last Course, is expected next year.
