Here's one guy we know for sure has left Crytek

After ten years with Crytek Tiago Sousa has jumped ship for id Software.

At Crytek, Sousa served as lead R&D graphics engineer, an important role at a company famed for its impressive graphics tech - think Crysis and CryEngine.

Sousa seems pretty happy about the move, going so far as to change his Twitter handle to celebrate. He broke the news with the tweet below, but GamesIndustry has more detail, reporting the veteran developer has joined id as lead rendering programmer

The reason this is important news is that it's one of the few publicly confirmed Crytek departures we've seen in recent weeks, amidst ongoing rumours of a mass exodus at Crytek UK and talk of financial troubles at Crytek central.

There's nothing to suggest that the move is related to these rumours - after all, id Software is a legend in the industry, and likely a perfect fit for a developer like Sousa, whose interests align with the company behind idTech. Additionally, John Carmack's departure for Oculus has left some big shoes to fill for those with the savvy to step up.

Nevertheless, it's interesting to get at least one confirmed departure (albeit from Crytek central, not Crytek UK) amid the fury of rumours and the silence from Crytek and Deep Silver.
