Crucible is going back into closed beta
Crucible is going back in time following a less-than-stellar launch.
Crucible developer Amazon Game Studios shared some unusual news this week. The free-to-play shooter, which only recently removed two of its game modes, is going back into closed beta.
Anyone who played it previously will continue to have access, but new players will need to sign up for an invite on the official site. For those already playing, servers will continue to be live, and progression will continue to be tracked. Amazon is also not putting any restrictions on game recording and streaming.
As revealed in a previous update, the developer is doubling down on the Heart of the Hives mode, and it'll be using the closed beta to more directly solicit fan feedback. The team is planning weekly play sessions with the community. It's also working on building a community council that includes casual and competitive players, to help shape the game's future.
Broadly, the goals outlined in last month's roadmap will continue to be the team's focus, as work continues on combat, map design and mechanics.
