Total War dev Creative Assembly confirms it's working on a new shooter IP

Creative Assembly has officially announced that it's currently developing a new first-person shooter.

The project is based on a new IP, and Creative Assembly revealed the new this weeks in a tweet. Film director Neill Blomkamp has recently visited the studio, and he can be seen in the picture (middle) in CA's Tweet.

That's about it, unfortunately. We didn't get a name, or even a hint about what it could be. However, if you cast your mind back to June last year, a number of job openings were made available at the studio.

Most of the roles were for a tactical shooter, which is very likely the same game the team is referring to in the tweet.

Blomkamp's visit could also be a hint that we're looking at a sci-fi theme for the game. Blomkamp's films have all been science fiction, and his work at Oats Studios has also mostly been sci-fi. That may of course be a bit reaching, but it's something worth keeping in mind.

Creative Assembly's only first-person project was the cult classic Alien: Isolation. Most of your time in Isolation was spent exploring and avoiding the Alien, so it'll be interesting to see if the team can create shooting mechanics to rival those in popular shooters today.
