Control console performance will be improved, but it will take time

Control is getting a couple of patches to address some of the most common complaints.

Control's performance on base PS4 and Xbox One has been called out for being poor, often dropping below 20fps in scenes with hectic action.

In a blog post, developer Remedy outlined the tweaks it'll be making to the game in future patches, and console performance is naturally amongst the top items on its list. Although the team is currently exploring ways to optimise the experience on consoles, the post couldn't provide a time frame for when players can expect to see these changes.

"As you can hopefully understand, these things do take time and don’t happen at the press of a button (as much as we wish they did)," the developer wrote.

In the shorter term, Control will be getting a patch to allow players to turn motion blur off. This also includes consoles. Likewise, the game's map is not working as intended, and Remedy is working on a fix to make sure the map is more relevant.

Remedy also revealed that HDR won't make it into the game, a feature some hoped would arrive at some point, considering how popular it is these days. The studio said it would prefer to spend development time on content and fixes.

Speaking of content, Remedy will reveal future content plans for Control next week.
