Here's our first look at Conan Unconquered, the new RTS from Command & Conquer veterans

Conan Unconquered is the new real-time strategy from Petroglyph.

Conan Unconquered was first announced back in December with a cinematic trailer and few early details. Today, publisher Funcom dropped a nice, long behind-the-scenes look at development.

The video has plenty of gameplay footage, as developers at Petroglyph take turns speaking about what makes the game unique. Survival RTS is a term the developer uses a lot in the video, and it basically means Unconquered will include systems beyond the typical base building, and attack mechanics.

The gameplay is captured from an alpha build, but you can already spot the similarities between Conan Unconquered, and last year's They Are Billions. In both games, you're tasked with building, and upgrading an ever-growing fortress to defend against increasingly difficult waves of attackers.

Even more interesting; the game is able to track various natural elements that will come into play when the attacks do hit. This is intended to add more depth, and should be another thing players will need to manage alongside resource gathering, and efficient building.
