Codemasters introduces Hacked Account Restart Programme for LOTRO

lotro

Codemasters has announced it's to implement a Hacked Account Restart Programme for those playing Lord of the Rings Online who have been a victim of account hacks.

The program will help players restore character data lost as a result of a hack if the account holder is able to provide the following information:

  • The player must be eligible for support (able to raise a ticket in-game) from Codemasters Online to apply for the programme
  • The GMs must be able to verify that the claimant is the actual owner of the account
  • If the GM cannot verify the account has been hacked then no action will be taken on the account

If a player suspects their account has been hacked, they must submit a report within seven of the occurrence.

However, there's some bad news to this as well. Codemasters cannot guarantee a full return of all items or gold, and what is returned to the player "lies solely with Codemasters Online." An alternative reimbursement method rather than returning a character, items, or gold can also be the option chosen by Codies, and if an account has been hacked before, the company "reserves the right to refuse a request."

So, in short, change your password often, and don't let your little brother play it while you are away on vacation.
