Code Vein has its anime vibe down in this new trailer - the first with English voice acting

We've got another Code Vein trailer to ring in the holidays, and this one shows off just how...anime the whole thing is.

Code Vein has been described as an anime Dark Souls, although project director Hiroshi Yoshimura assures us that there is much more to it than that.

This new trailer shows off some story details, and has the vampires at the game's heart talking about their lives, their deaths, and what it means to be a 'revenant' (which seems to be their name for vampires). Some fairly bad rock music plays in the background (Underworld by 'Vamps'), as is customary.

The English voice acting sounds pretty solid, based on this small preview, which is always good. There's a nice line in there about losing sight of the fact that they were, at one point, all human.

Towards the end of the trailer, we get to see the characters all undergoing fairly typically anime transformation sequences, with lots of things bursting out of them and red flashes. The animated sections of the trailer were done by Ufotable, which has previously worked on numerous cutscenes and anime series based on games, including God Eater, Tales of Zestiria the X, Fate/Zero.

There's a bit of gameplay footage scattered in here for good measure, although it's nothing too new beyond what we've seen before - the story details and English voice acting are the main highlight.

Code Vein is due for release at some point in 2018, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
