Close to three quarters of all 3DS consoles have been online

The 3DS is Nintendo's most-connected console yet, with over 70% of all units sold hooked up to the Internet at least once.

The platform holder revealed the figure at a Nintendo analysts meeting at E3 2012, as reported by Nintendo World Report.

The company also noted that on average, those 3DS owners who have brought the system online has made five digital purchases.

Flagging the upcoming digital and retail simul-launch of New Super Mario Bros. 2, the system's first, Nintendo said the 3DS has sold more software units since launch than the Nintendo DS did over the same period.
