You can now revel in nighttime fun with Cities Skylines: After Dark

The After Dark expansion for Cities: Skylines is now available, alongside a free update to the game.

Available on PC, Mac, and Linux, After Dark adds a new night cycle to the game which will also change the way in-game cities behave.

The day-and-night cycle is being added as a free update to all players today, but if you want the entire expansion, it will run you $14.99 through digital retailers.

What does that price get you? Well, it provides your game with the following:

  • New tourism specializations: Adds high-rise hotels and other attractions for out-of-town visitors, including beach facilities if placed near the water.
  • New bus lanes and bicycle lanes: This allow cities to take advantage of alternate transportation options; new taxi system helps ferry tourists around town.
  • Sunset services: City services can be scheduled during different times on the day-and-night cycle, allowing for trash pickup at night and more public transit during the day.
  • New nighttime leisure districts: These can be designated by the player and will eventually lead to the arrival of nightclubs, bowling alleys, karaoke bars, and more.
  • An increase in criminal activity: At night, new police police activity will commence and new prisons can be built to contain miscreants.

You can have a look at the extensive patch notes for Cities Skylines: After Dark over on the Paradox forums.
