Gamasutra has posted a chart citing NPD figures that details how each console's price cut has contributed to September sales figures as well as other year to date figures.

Looking over it, you'll see that sales in the millions are listed for the years 2007-2009 during the months to September.

Wii comes out on top all three years, with 2008 being its best September year to date with 5.2 million in sales, while PS3 shares the same time frame with 2.3 million in sales. The best September for Xbox 360, so far, was last month with 2.4 million in sales.

While PS3 was the top selling console for the first time last month, only being bested by a handheld, the console will still have to outsell 360 by "around 35,000 units each week until the end of the year to break even with Microsoft", according to Joystiq.
