CCP offers apologetic discounts to disgruntled EVE Online players

A discount has been offered to returning EVE Online players after a series of unpopular decisions saw many veterans throw in the towel.

Massively reports players who let their accounts lapse during a period of drama over the past few months have received emails extending them a special return offer - $4.95 US for 30 days subscription.

CCP's introduction of startlingly expensive vanity items along with more significant gameplay additions proved so unpopular that the game's enormous and fragile economy was undermined by departing players.

The community sent a delegation to negotiate with the developer, eventually resulting in a full formal apology from CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson.

CCP is set to release a tie-in MMO shooter, DUST 514, on PlayStation 3. The two games will sport significant cross-platform interaction.
