Capcom to start punishing Street Fighter 5 Rage Quitters on a weekly basis

Capcom has noted some fixes applied to Street Fighter 5 in its latest Unity Blog, along with updated information on how it plans to deal with rage quitters.

The company said it is only targeting the those with high disconnect rates, so those with a few instances of being disconnected during a match have nothing to worry over.

Players who "fit the criteria of Rage Quitter" typically have an 80-90% disconnect rate, according to Capcom, and while the team is still working on a process to pinpoint these users, thanks to the community policing, 30 players have had their League Points docked.

"They can consider this a warning," said the firm. "We will be continuing to monitor these accounts in the coming weeks and will take further action if needed.

"Moving forward, we will be making a sweep each week based on accounts in our system that have abnormally high disconnect rates, particularly at the end of the match, and will reset their League Points.

"While we don’t have an exact ETA on a permanent solution, we will let everyone know as soon as it is in place."

Last week Capcom called upon the community to send in videos of Rage Quitting instances which allowed the team to cross reference with compiled data. The team made sure everything was as it seemed so it didn't "start dishing out any punishments without clear proof."

The development team no longer need for the community to make it aware of Rage Quitting as it can now pinpoint users who are "clearly abusing the system." It will now start punishing players on a weekly basis.

March Update

More details on Alex, modes and additional bug fixes will be detailed in full next week, but for the time being players notice a few additional fixes were made on the server side recently.

An issue where some users could not be found in Rival Search was resolved and players will no longer be disconnected immediately after creating a Battle Lounge.

Known issues are still being worked on, and those still having connection issues have been provided a list of ports which users should allow their router and PC to access.
