Canabalt clone whisked off App Store

A pathetically obvious rip off of hit iPhone game Canabalt has succumbed to copyright claim in less than a day.

GiantBomb reports the offending game, Free Running, appeared on the App Store today, only to be removed in short order.

From screenshots, it seems the copycat was virtually identical to Semi Secret Software's Canabalt, apparently compiled directly from the original's source code, which was released as part of a charity promotion.

As if one copyright infringement weren't enough, mysterious Free Running "creator" PLD Soft allegedly yoinked the game's logo and art directly from an incensed DeviantArt user.

Semi Secret raised the matter with Apple, apparently resulting in a rapid response. A similar case in February saw a cheap clone of Wolfire's Lugaru HD on sale for almost a week.
