Bungie developing new engine for next project

Bungie has said it's creating a new engine for its incoming Actvision project.

Speaking in a Develop interview, Bungie communications manager Brain Jarrard said the company is against the idea of using the same tech for its future projects.

"I think it goes hand-in-hand with our independent spirit," he said. "Just like we don't want to develop a game off someone else's IP, we want to push our own technology in the same way. That's going to be our position for the foreseeable future."

Jarrard said development on the engine was already underway: "Yeah, [the new engine is] actually in development, so I would say it's in a stage where, technically we're still at the end of a pre-production mode."

He went on to state that "full weight" of the studio was now on their unannounced title for Activision since Halo: Reach is complete.

No details have been released on the Activision game at all as yet. The ten-year tie-in was announced in April of this year.
