Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 still happening, but not in 2012

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has confirmed that Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 is still a thing, but said it has "evolved" and will miss an expected 2012 ship.

Speaking to CVG, Pitchford confirmed long-held suspicions that the shooter had fallen right off the 2012 radar.

"I can't really talk about Furious Four right now. The game has evolved, I think people are going to be surprised by what they'll see, and it's still evolving," he said.

"One of the reasons why we're not talking about it now is that it's evolving and we need to make further changes before we can start talking about it."

Not to mention Gearbox has plenty on its plate right now.

"I can't really talk about Furious Four right now. Borderlands 2 ships in September, so we're spending most of our time talking about that, and Aliens Colonial Marines comes out after that in February," the executive added.

"I might come around to talk about Furious Four between the releases of Borderlands 2 and Aliens: Colonial Marines, but certainly I won't before the release of Borderlands 2."

Ubisoft showed off Furious 4 at E3 2011 but the project went completely silent almost immediately thereafter. The game's future came into question when the publisher let trademarks lapse, but it has since confirmed its intention to refile.
