Bravely Default designer Akihiko Yoshida has left Square Enix

Celebrated Square Enix character designer Akihiko Yoshida has left the company. His farewell address can be found within the art book for his most-recent project Bravely Default: For the Sequel.

Yoshida has been credited as character designer across a wide range of Square Enix projects since he joined the company in 1995. Notable titles include Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics and recent releases Bravely Default and Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn.

Now, Siliconera reports that Yoshida confirmed his resignation in an art book released today called “The Art of Bravely." It is packaged with copies Bravely Default: For the Sequel, which also launched today in Japan.

The site has posted this photo of Yoshida address:

Translated, it reads, "This is a personal message of mine, but I’d like to say thank you for all the support these past 18 years. I have decided to leave Square Enix, but I believe our relationship will continue going on. And as long as I’m needed [laughs,] I will continue working on the Bravely Default series. Thank you for your continued support.
