Boulder Dash: 30th Anniversary in the works for Android, iOS, PC and other platforms

The original creators of Boulder Dash have reunited for a sequel called Boulder Dash: 30th Anniversary.

Development is being handled by Tap Star Interactive co-founder Chris Gray and Peter Liepa in collaboration with First Star Software, according to Polygon.

"Boulder Dash, in my opinion, had not really been updated in a meaningful way in an awfully long time," said Gray. "So since the original game came out, I felt it hadn't really been given the kind of attention or the thought to bring it into the contemporary mobile space.

"So I thought it would be a great opportunity to work with the other original creator of an IP that I knew was well-loved and well-recognized."

In Boulder Dash: 30th Anniversary will contain two starting character; a number of free levels; a level editor; and extra level packs will be made available for purchase using premium currency.

Set to launch later this year for Android and iOS, the free-to-play game is also in the works for consoles, Mac, and PC.
