Blockbuster closes another 62 stores in the UK, 427 more jobs lost

Blockbuster has announced the closure of 62 more stores in the UK, resulting in the loss of 427 jobs. The brand;s administrators have forewarned that further closures may follow.

It follows the announced closure of 72 Blockbuster stores across the UK.

Administrators Moorfields Corporate Recovery issued a statement on the matter today, along with a full list of affected stores and closure dates.

The statement adds, "Unfortunately we have still not received any acceptable offers so as a result we may be forced to close the remaining 91 stores affecting 808 employees. "

Offering some form of compensation, Moorfields has listed several jobs at Santander, the Co-Operative and Sayers the Bakers, should affected employees wish to apply.

Eurogamer notes that Blockbuster started 2013 with 528 UK and 4190 employees.
