Blizzard files Warlords of Draenor trademark, almost certainly Warcraft related

A new Blizzard trademark looks a heck of a lot like the name of the next World of Warcraft expansion.

In a trademark filing screengrabbed by MMO Champion, Blizzard is seen to have applied to register the phrase Warlords of Draenor.

The trademark was filed in the usual categories for video games.

The domain warlordsofdraenor.com was registered in early October, too, although according to WhoIs records it was registered via Go Daddy, which is unusual for a corporate registration.

Draenor is a location in the Warcraft universe - the homeland of the orcs. It was the primary setting of the first World of Warcraft expansion, The Burning Crusade.

WoW launched in 2004 and has produced four expansions to date - The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria. All but the last - which launched in September 2012 - are now part of the base game package.

World of Warcraft does not require a subscription up to level 20.

Thanks, games.on.net.
