BlackSite: Area 51 trademark filed by Warner Bros

BlackSite: Area 51 is suddenly back on the radar thanks to a mysterious new trademark filing.

Warner Bros. has filed an intent-to-use trademark for the Midway Studios classic, as spotted by NeoGAF.

This may just be a bit of housekeeping, of course; Warner Bros. acquired the rights to BlackSite: Area 51 along with Midway Games when it picked up the Mortal Kombat publisher for $33 million in 2009.

Blacksite: Area 51 released in 2007 and was the fourth game in the Area 51 series, following the 1995 and 1998 arcade light gun cabinets, and the 2005 console spin off. It went under the radar a bit but was well-liked by fans, and is well overdue for a Steam release, sequel or reboot.

Stay Tuned for E3, that's my advice.
