Black Rock: Split/Second is the "Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2" of racing games

splitsecond

Black Rock's Jason Ried has said Split/Second is up there with Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2 in the racing game stakes.

However, the racer's producer insisted the comparisons were down to the set-pieces in Infinity Ward's shooter and Naughty Dog's actioner.

"It's a tough one. [Activision's] Blur is obviously competition - it's racing and it's doing things slightly different as well. But we almost feel we're closer to Call of Duty or Uncharted in what we do than other racing games," he said to CVG.

He further added: "Animation-wise, Split/Second is the most ambitious thing that's ever been done in a racing game. So that is where we come down to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2 comparison - because of these huge set-pieces."

The racer received a whole dozen new screens at the end of last week. It also got a new subtitle of Velocity, and a release date of May 21 in the UK for PS3, 360 and PC.
