Black Crown: book publisher Random House releases first F2P game

Black Crown is the first free-to-play game to be published by book publisher Random House. Developed by Failbetter, the game is a piece of interactive fiction and should be of interest to adventure game fans.

GI.biz reports that Black Crown runs on Failbetter's StoryNexus technology, which is geared towards creating enhanced interactive fiction.

The Black Crown website is pretty cryptic. You can register now and take a strange aptitude test ahead of the game's full reveal. There is also said to be an author attached to the writing, but they haven't been revealed yet either.

It's all a bit weird, but Random House's Dan Franklin has suggested that Black Crown could become a book in both physical and e-book form at some point, with thousands of players.

Try it out and let us know what you think.
