BioWare refutes cancelled Mass Effect Andromeda DLC rumors

But there's still no word on Andromeda's single-player DLC.

Mass Effect: Andromeda certainly isn't a bad game by any means, but it certainly hasn't been without problems. It certainly lends weight to waves of rumors that Electronic Arts is quietly reducing support for the game, complete with reports that planned DLC was being canceled. Both Electronic Arts and BioWare have responded to deny these rumors, although the truth may be messier than it first appears.

The whole thing started with this post from Critical Hit, who provided a reportedly deleted Facebook message from Austrian developer Sinclair Networks. The message states that the studio would no longer be producing Andromeda DLC, and that the entire franchise would be shelved until a new direction could be determined.

Since then, both Electronic Arts and BioWare have responded that Sinclair Networks' claims are false - largely because they don't have a relationship with the studio. An EA representative told IGN that "we have never worked with Sinclair Networks and they had nothing to do with the development of Mass Effect: Andromeda."

BioWare went a step further, implying Sinclair Networks was a "fake company" on Twitter. Mass Effect producer Michael Gamble stated outright that he'd "never heard of Sinclair Networks. Ever."

So it's all settled, and story DLC is on the way, right? Maybe not - more recent reports are suggesting that single-player DLC has been dropped, independent of the Sinclair Networks announcement. On this point, EA's representatives remain silent.

Regardless, BioWare is clearly still supporting Andromeda through patches and updates, up to and including new romance options.
