BioShock Infinite cost 2K around $200 million, analysts say

BioShock Infinite is one of the most expensive games of all time, according to a couple of analysts.

Unnamed analysts told the New York Times that development of BioShock Infinite cost "upward of $100 million".

That figure doesn't include marketing, which is believed to come in close to another $100 million.

Although publishers tend to avoid revealing how they break down marketing and development costs per title, estimates generally put Grand Theft Auto 4 - another Take-Two title - as one of the most expensive games ever produced, with a budget of $100 million. Gran Turismo 5, which took five years to make, is believed to have cost about $80 million. Shenmue's $70 million cost is well-dcumented - and that was in 1999, so it's probably worth significantly more than that today.

BioShock: Infinite is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 26. That is so. Close.
