Bayonetta hits 1.1 million for Sega

Sega just confirmed that Bayonetta's sold 1.1 million units, making it the publisher's second most popular game in the nine months ending December 31.

The Platinum actioner was beaten out by Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.

Here's the top five:

  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Wii, DS) - 5,670,000 units
  • Bayonetta (PS3, 360) - 1,100,000 units
  • Football Manager 2010 (PSP, PC) - 740,000 units
  • Phantasy Star Portable 2 (PSP) - 540,000 units

The game didn't actually release of Japan until January, so we're assuming these are just Japanese sales, although Sega has listed these figures as "US, Europe, Japan". So we're not quite sure what's going on there.

By the by. Looks good for a sequel, doesn't it?
