Battlefield 5: DICE is working on fixing those annoying UI issues

Although Battlefield 5's earliest release doesn't happen until later this week, the game has been playable for a few days for Origin/EA Access members.

This inevitably means feedback has started to pile up, now that Battlefield 5 players have had a chance to test out the launch product for themselves.

Since the EA and Origin Access launch, players have been dismayed by a number of annoying UI quirks and other inconsistencies. These are mostly centred around the weapon customisation and Specializations UI, the Assignments tab, and the fact Battlefield 5 maintains separate loadout and customisation preferences per faction.

Erik Ortman, lead engagement engineer at DICE, has taken to Twitter to explain that all of these issues are on the developer's radar, and outline specifically what's being looked at.

First off, Ortman said DICE is working on "making career grind interesting" for players who already reached the level 50 cap. It's not yet clear what that means, but he did say that when chapter progression goes live in early December, it'll provide a new avenue for players to make progress.

The weapon customisation menu, which currently requires too many clicks to do simple tasks, is being improved. Likewise, weapon and vehicle Specializations will be made available to players in-game, rather than requiring them to go back to the main menu.

While on the subject of customisation, DICE is looking into ways to make it easier to manage two versions of every class and subclass, thanks to the current structure of per-faction loadouts. Assignments, another new addition that's only available outside of matches, is being looked into. DICE wants to let players add and remove them in-game.

As for the in-matchexperience, one particular sticking point has been the delay players sometimes get in seeing flag capture status. This happens when the game displays a "critical message", which gives it precedent over capture status. This has been fixed, and will be available in an upcoming patch.
