Battlefield 3 utilises Madden, FIFA tech

Perhaps you wouldn't guess from looking at it, but DICE recycled animation tech snaffled from EA Sports games for Battlefield 3

Speaking to GameInformer, lead animator Tobias Dahl said DICE are taking advantage of an internal EA tool called ANT.

"Quite naturally, I started looking into the sport games because what they have is animation -- that's what drives their games," Dahl said, adding "And it looks pretty good, I'd say."

The tool was created around seven to eight years ago as a result of collaboration between EA's programming divisions, and has been used to power games in the Madden and FIFA franchises.

EA;'s just released a trailer for Battlefield 3; new media and impressions come out of embargo this morning. Keep your dials set.

Thanks, Joystiq.
