Battlefield 1 will give you 5 medals to shoot for each week, but earning them won't be easy

Battlefield 1 players will have to put in time and effort to unlock weekly medals.

Battlefield 1 makes some changes to the medal system familiar to fans of DICE'S shooter series.

Each week following Battlefield 1's launch later this month, DICE will present a rotating line-up of five medals players can earn. Players have from one weekly reset to the next to fulfil the conditions for each medal, and can earn all of them. There are 34 medals in total, which can be earned up to 100 times each. Earning a medal grants an XP boost, and hitting the cap for a particular medal will amplify that boost.

To make it easier to nab each medal, Battlefield 1 includes a tracking system, allowing you to choose a medal and quickly check your progress on its requirements when the tracker displays on screen at key moments. You can only track one medal at a time, but switching between tracked medals doesn't affect your progress.

To earn a Battlefield 1 weekly medal you'll need to complete a quest of sorts. The quests are composed of three or five stage, which increase in difficulty or duration as you advance through the steps and must be tackled in order. Examples of quest steps include getting kills with a class weapon set or performing revives. If you're tracking a medal, you'll get a notification when you complete each stage.

While some of the medals are straightforward, allowing you to focus on one role, others are more complicated. For example, the Legion of Glory medal tasks you with playing a range of Battlefield 1 classes.
