Battlefield 1 no HUD, colour-graded footage show a more immersive way to play

Battlefield 1's impressive visuals and sounds get accentuated when you play with the HUD turned off.

Battlefield 1's realisation of WW1 may not be the most authentic, but it's no doubt the best looking game set in the Great War.

This is taken a step further when you strip the game down to its most basic elements, removing all the icon clutter, minimap, and HUD elements. At that point, the game's presentation really will really shine. In the video above, YouTube user billyboyjennings turns off all of these modern elements for a chaotic experience.

The video uses a filter that mutes colours, similar to the opening mission from the game's single-player campaign. What's more, it's captured from the trench sections one of the game's multiplayer maps (on Operations) using only bolt action rifles, for an even more authentic presentation.

Because kill confirmations are turned off, the only way to know if you killed your target is to listen for the distinct pop sound the game makes when you do, or move in to confirm your kill. It's very tense, and you should definitely watch with headphones on if you can.
