Battlefield 1 Incursions is a 5v5 competitive mode, alpha due September

DICE has just revealed the often teased Battlefield 1 competitive mode, called Incursions.

Incursions is a small-scale competitive mode the developer have been looking to bring to the game for a while. The mode supports 5v5, and features vehicles because DICE felt that they're an integral part of the Battlefield experience.

Players get to choose their class prior to the start of a match, which makes it sound like they won't be able to switch later in the round - a big change from all current modes. DICE has been testing Incursions internally for a while, but it'll be hosting a closed alpha in September.
