Backbreaker Vengeance for XBLA this summer

After an image posted on the oficial Backbreaker forum suggested an update to the NFL title is on the way (thanks, Joystiq), a statement has confirmed the project for XBLA.

Details are scarce at this point and there's no mention of a PS3 version, but the game's Facebook page now carries a teaser image and simply states, "Get a First Look at Backbreaker Vengeance coming to XBLA this summer!"

Created by British developer NaturalMotion, the original Backbreaker was released on PS3 and 360 in summer 2010 to mixed reviews, scoring 58 on Metacritic.

iPhone and Android versions were also released.

Due to EA holding the exclusive licence to use real NFL teams for its Madden franchise, Backbreaker did not feature recognisable teams but, much like Pro Evolution Soccer, allowed players to edit team logos and player names.

The game was praised for the dynamic player movement created by its Euphoria game engine, whilst an update put out shortly after release tried to address some shortcomings in gameplay.

Further details regarding Backbreaker Vengeance are expected soon.
