Assassin's Creed Origins' world is "massive," the series' "biggest world yet"

And it's stuffed to bursting with stuff to do.

Assassin's Creed Origins takes us back to the series after it took a well-deserved year off.

Since its announcement we've seen a decent chunk of gameplay, including side quests and a fun cinematic Gamescom trailer filled with carnage.

Matt certainly enjoyed his time with it this week, and you know what it takes to please him, so it seems promising right now.

The latest gameplay video from Ubisoft serves to illustrate the scale of the world - "the series' biggest world yet".

The size of the map is around the same as that of Black Flag, with the difference being that Origin's map is mostly land that can be explored.

"[The world] is much, much more dense," said game director Ashraf Ismail.

"This is definitely - in terms of content - the biggest world we've ever built. [In terms of exploration] we wanted people to be lost in this world for hours and hours. So the game is quite huge.

"You'll need to discover the game's quests on your own," said Ubiblog's editor Mikel Reperaz.

You can stumble across these quests and adventures organically, or be pointed in the direction by an NPC. You can even leave mid-quest to take care of other business and come back to finish it off later.

There's a lot more in the video about the setting and the main political players in the game so it's worth a watch if you're after another AC fix.

There's not too long to wait for the real thing though. Assassin's Creed Origins releases on October 27 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
