Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: How to Get Rid of Your Bounty

There are times in Assassin's Creed Odyssey where you'll have a bounty placed on your head for falling on the wrong side of the law. Below we'll be walking you through everything you need to know about the 'wanted' system should you be hunted by the law, including how to get rid of your bounty.

How to Get Rid of Your Bounty in Assassin's Creed Odyssey

To get rid of a bounty in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, you can do it one of four ways, some of which are easier than others.

  1. Hold Y/Triangle on the map screen to pay all bounties. This'll clear your wanted status but cost a certain amount of money.
  2. Move the cursor over a sponsor on the map (marked with a red symbol of a pouch and dagger) to pay that specific bounty. That'll lower it by however much they're paying, but won't get rid of the whole thing, unless they're the only sponsor.
  3. Find the sponsor, but hunt them down and kill them instead of paying. This is the most challenging option, but costs nothing if done successfully.
  4. Simply wait. Your bounty decreases slowly over time, so if you don't commit any crimes, it'll eventually return to zero.

Bounties Explained

You get bounties in Assassin's Creed Odyssey by breaking the law, whether it's killing civilians or soldiers of whoever owns that area, stealing objects or just generally causing havoc (and getting spotted doing it). As you commit more and more crimes, the bounty meter in the bottom-right will begin to fill, marking how much money is being offered to anybody who can bring you down.

You’ll notice that there are five notches in this Bounty meter, which indicate the severity of the price put on your head. One Bounty notch is at the lower end of the scale, meaning only one or two mecenaries will be after you, but the Bounty meter will increase if you keep on killing enemies, and every time it increases by one notch, a more powerful and deadly mercenary will be sent after either Kassandra or Alexios. Fill up the meter and trained killers from across the world will be after you.

Mercenary assassins will pursue anybody with a bounty on their head. Of course, if you can kill them, you'll get their high-tier loot for yourself. | Ubisoft

There is a positive side to this however: mercenaries have some of the best equipment in the game, sometimes wielding legendary equipment for you to steal off them. Alternatively, you can knock them out and kidnap them to work on Barnabus' boat. It's kinder than killing them... right?
