Assassin's Creed Odyssey coming to Switch in Japan - but only through the cloud

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is coming to Nintendo Switch - but only in Japan.

During the Japanese Nintendo Direct it was announced Assassin's Creed Odyssey would be released on Switch.

The game will be available through the cloud upon release October 5.

Similar to Resident Evil 7 in Japan, it will be available as a "Cloud Edition". This will run customers ¥8400 ($75/£57/€64) for two years worth of access. That's the same price as the full game on PS4 in the country (thanks, Nintendo World Report).

Customers can also pay a daily rate of ¥730 ($6.50/£5/€5.60). There's no word on whether the game will be released in a similar vein outside of Japan.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey releases October 5 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in the west. Those who own the Collectors and Ultimate Editions will be granted three days early access, starting October 2.

Ubisoft announced contents of the Assassin's Creed Odyssey Season Pass yesterday, and it includes a remastered version of Assassin's Creed 3.
