Assassin's Creed live-action series coming to Netflix

An Assassin's Creed live-action series is in the works at Netflix.

Netflix has announced it is developing a live-action series based on Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise.

The companies will also partner up for animated and anime series based on the franchise as well, according to Variety.

A showrunner for the live-action series hasn't been pegged, but Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as the executive producers.

"We’re excited to partner with Ubisoft and bring to life the rich, multilayered storytelling that Assassin’s Creed is beloved for," said Peter Friedlander, VP of original series at Netflix.

"From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy."

Other Ubisoft projects in the works at Netflix include an anime series of Splinter Cell, and it will be penned by Derek Kolstad, writer of the John Wick film franchise.

There's also The Division film starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal, and Beyond Good and Evil is getting its own feature film which will air on Netflix.
